Day 2 at the Cannes Film festival continued with more screenings and sales as well as new announcements.

The day began with the world premiere of Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring" starring Emma Watson. The film kicked off the Un Certain Regard section and premiered to mixed reviews with Variety stating "A spiritual sequel of sorts to 'The Social Network,' Sofia Coppola's film offers a lively and fascinating look at a real-life teen crime spree." The Hollywood Reporter was less thrilled with the film and said "A too-cool-for-school portrait of spoiled kids achieving dubious but welcome fame for robbing the homes of young Hollywood celebrities."

Two competition films also premiered. "Young and Beautiful" scored raves with the Hollywood Reporter stating "A fascinating contemplation of adolescent sexuality that will be a star-making platform for its young lead, Marine Vacth."

Chinese thriller "A Touch of Sin" mixed reviews with Variety calling it " an "Unquestionably Jia's most mainstream-friendly work, if also his most schematic and, blades aside, least penetrating."

Meanwhile IFC continued its shopping spree acquiring the SXSW Film "The Face of Love." The movie stars Annette Benning and Ed Harris and will be released in September.

Lars Von Triers also announced that his new film "Nymphomaniac" would be released in December in Denmark and later in the US. There was also poster that was revealed with the entire cast and Von Triers.

New films were also announced by the Weinstein Company which is developing a "Crouching Hidden Dragon" sequel and started the bidding war on Judi Dench's "Philomena." Weinstein offered a $6 million bid on a film which is reported to have cost $18 million.

Scarlet Johansson also announced that she would make her directional debut with 'Summer Crossing" based on a novel by Truman Capote. Garret Hedlund also revealed that he would join Academy Award winner William Monahan's new film "Mojave" also starring Oscar Issac.
