The trailer to James Franco's new film "As I Lay Dying" has premiered.

The film, based on the William Faulkner novel, documents the death of Addie Bundren and the subsequent effort of several family members to honor the deceased's wish to be buried in the town of Jefferson. The book is famous for its stream-of-conscious prose, and its expansive narrative of 15 different characters

The film stars Franco, who also produced and wrote the script, Danny McBride, Richard Jenkins, Tim Blake Nelson, and Logan Marshall-Green.

Franco has headlined the festival circuit throughout the year. He first stopped at the Sundance Film Festival where he premiered his directional effort "Interior. Leather. Bar." and starred in "Lovelace" alongside Amanda Bynes. He later made a stop at the SXSW Film Festival with his controversial film "Spring Breakers." After that he premiered "The Director" at the Tribeca Film Festival. Franco also starred in blockbuster "Oz The Great and Powerful". He will next be seen in "This is the End" with Seth Rogan, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, and Jason Segel.

McBride will also be seen in "This is the End" as well as "Hell & Back." He is best known for his work on "Up in the Air," "Your Highness" and "Pineapple Express." Jenikins was nominated for an Academy Award for his turn in "The Visitor." He was last seen in "Killing them Softly," and "The Company You Keep." He will appear in "Lullaby" with Amy Adams.

 Blake Nelson was last seen in "Lincoln" and "Big Miracle." He will next be seen in Woody Allen's "Blue Caprice," and "Child of God." Marshall-Green next appears in "Black Dog, Red Dog" after his breakout in "Prometheus".

"As I Lay Dying" will compete in the Un Certain Regard competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Millennium Entertainment will distribute.
