The Nokia Lumia 520 has embarked on its way to Canada.

The new Windows Phone 8 smartphone, which made its worldwide debut at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, has been confirmed to be available across carriers Koodo, Rogers, and TELUS.

Rogers will be the first Canadian carrier to offer the Lumia 520 as of today. As for prices, signing a two or three-year contract will give the smartphone a $0.00 price tag. A month-to-month plan will increase the price to $199.99.

Koodo will be next in line selling the Windows Phone 8 smartphone on May 8 for $150 for the black model or $0 on the tab.

TELUS will offer the black model of the Lumia 520 for $149 with its pre-paid plan starting May 17.

"By offering better experiences at a more affordable price, the Nokia Lumia 520 is a perfect phone for Canadians wanting a taste of some of that high-end innovation that Nokia is known for without the high price tag," said Nokia North America Vice President Matt Rothschild.

The Lumia 520 packs a dual-core 1.0GHz processor while having a 4-inch screen display with IPS display technology. The pixel resolution for the Lumia 520 is 800x480. The rear-facing camera has 5 megapixels while no secondary camera is present and the Windows Phone 8 smartphone has 8GB for internal storge with 512MB of RAM. The smartphone uses a 1,430mAh battery.
