Although NetherRealm Studios has yet to release the first downloadable character for Injustice: Gods Among Us, information has leaked concerning the second roster addition for the game via Twitter. Earlier reports of Batgirl becoming available are indeed true, and the fabled crimefighter will be making her way to the game soon.

"Looks like the bat's out of the bag. Batgirl is a playable DLC character in Injustice. Catch her gameplay next week!"

Batgirl's existence for the game came to light this weekend, and NetherRealm has decided to embrace the leak rather than try and say nothing. The game's first downloadable character, Lobo, will be out tomorrow, May 7. Both characters will be available individually, or part of the game's Season Pass, which offers four downloadable characters for $15.

What remains to be seen is what version of Batgirl will be available, and how the character plays differently from Batman. In the comics, Barbara Gordon, the daughter of police chief James Gordon, is the most famous version of Batgirl, but there have been many different versions of the character. We will just have to wait until the character is shown off or released to find out for certain.

It will also be interesting to see if NetherRealm uses the gameplay footage of Batgirl to reveal alternate costumes for existing characters that have not been available previously. In the gameplay video for Lobo, his opponent was a version of Batman wearing a costume that was not available in the main game, hinting that alternate costumes could also be part of the game's DLC packages. According to the game's Facebook page, the Teen Titans and Bad Girls Costumes DLC packs will be available tommorrow, so it is possible more skin packs will be available at the same time as Batgirl.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. A version of the game for mobile devices is also available.
