The Google-branded LG Nexus 4 has proved to be a popular hit worldwide, and it looks like the two tech giants might be teaming up again to release the handset's successor.
According to a new report from Korea Times, Google's Larry Page and LG's Koo Bon-joon recently discussed a number of deals between the two tech giants during Page's visit to Korea. Korea Times cites unnamed sources as confirming that the LG is working on manufacturing the next Nexus smartphone.
None of this has been confirmed by Google or LG, so swallow the report with a healthy dose of salt.
The same report also states that LG is interested in pairing up with Google to develop new televisions and a Glass-like device.
Practically no details are known about the next-gen Nexus handset, although given the success of the Nexus 4, LG seems a likely choice. When or where this smartphone will be revealed is still up in the air, and while many are hoping or an unveiling at Google I/O in mid-May, chances are slim the device will be making an appearance that early. Instead, Google is said to be working on an upgraded variant of the Nexus 4.
The new Nexus 4 will house some key features that the original didn't have - namely, LTE connectivity, CDMA compatibility, and more internal storage. All in all, the new Nexus 4 is said to have 32GB o storage, and will finally be able to run on Verizon and Sprint networks. OF course, this hasn't been confirmed yet, but would you rather have an upgraded Nexus 4, or a brand-new Nexus 5 debut at Google I/O?
