Real Madrid will get a chance to exact vengeance on Borussia Dortmund for its group matches when the two sides face off Wednesday in the 2013 Champions league semifinals.

Madrid and Borussia met in group play with the German side claiming four out of six possible points between the two sides. In the first game on Oct. 24 the German side jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a 36th minute goal from Robert Lewandowski, but Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo answered two minutes later to knot the score at one. In the second half, Marcel Schmelzer gave Dortmund a 2-1 lead that it would never relinquish. In the match at Madrid, Marco Reus gave Borussia a 1-0 lead but Pepe answered to tie it at one. Spaniard Alvaro Arbeloa gave Borussia at 2-1 lead before the half but Mesut Ozil salvaged a point for Madrid by scoring in the 89th. Dortmund wound up winning Group D and sent Madrid to a precarious round of 16 matchup against Manchester United.

The Spaniards earned a hard fought 1-1 draw in the opening leg against the English side but won 2-1 in the second leg at the Old Trafford. In the quarterfinals, Madrid jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Turkish side Galatasaray, but fell 3-2 in the second leg.

Meanwhile Borussia drew 2-2 with Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the round of 16. The team erupted for a 3-0 win in the second leg. In the quarterfinals against Malaga, Dortmund was frustrated in a 0-0 draw and almost fell in the second. However late heroics earned the team a semifinals berth.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the champions league with 11 goals; however, he only scored once in the games against Borussia Dortmund.

Prediction: Madrid wins the opening leg in dynamic fashion; 3-0 Real Madrid.
