The HTC One is finally, officially available in the United States as of today. AT&T and Sprint are selling HTC's flagship phone in-store and online.

The 32GB model is available from both carriers for $199.99 with a two-year contract. AT&T also has the 64GB model for $299.99.

The aluminum unibody design of the HTC One precludes an SD card slot, so internal storage is a bit more important than in phones with more expandability.

T-Mobile follows next week with its own release of the HTC One Apr. 24. It will be available for $99 upfront and $20 per month without a contract.

The One is making its American debut about six weeks later than HTC had initially hoped. Component shortages forced the company to delay a widespread release, which resulted in the worst quarterly profits in HTC's history.

Industry insiders say HTC is no longer considered a "tier one" customer by suppliers after a sales slump last year caused their order history to be unreliable. Suppliers are reportedly not prioritizing HTC's orders.

That means the One faces off against the Samsung Galaxy S4 with a much smaller head start than initially planned. T-Mobile releases the Galaxy S4 Apr. 24, and Sprint and AT&T follow within days.

While there is plenty of anticipation over the One, which has received mostly gushing reviews, the quality of its design and user experience may end up overshadowed by the marketing might of Samsung.

The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.
