'Ninja Turtles' Movie News: Release Date Moves and More Cast Alongside Megan Fox

Fans of the pizza loving turtles franchise can get excited as the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot has already begin filming. Produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film titled "Ninja Turtles" hasn't even finished production, but has already seen its share of ups and downs.

First production company Paramount Pictures delayed the film by nearly 10 months - pushing it from its intended December 2013 release, to May 2014. The reason for doing so was "script issues," which had some questioning if they were fully behind the project. There was also speculation that the movie would move in a different direction from the original franchise with the removal of "teenage mutant" from the title. In an attempt to keep things moving in the positive direction, Liebesman pointed out the May release would coincide with the original film's 30 year anniversary. Too bad it would later get moved again, but has since stayed true to its June 6 premiere date.

If the constant hopping of release dates was not enough - a copy of the script mysteriously found its way to the internet last year causing fans and critics to show their distaste for the direction of the movie. Producer Michael Bay eventually took to his personal website to calm down naysayers. "That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news - Wait for the movie!"

Thankfully things have calmed down considerably for those involved with the movie as they began filming in New York earlier this month, and we can now provide an update on the cast.

Megan Fox joins forces once again with former "Transformer" boss Bay as she takes on the roll of April O'Neil. Joining her as the quartet of green crime fighters are Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello) and Pete Ploszek (Leonardo). "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" newcomer Alan Ritchson joins as Raphael. Just announced cast mates are "Arrested Development" actor Will Arnett, and "Seinfeld" actor Danny Woodburn, who will play Splinter.

Though there is still no word on the plot of the movie, Ritchson tells reporters that there is a lot of fight choreography and stunt work. As far as keeping to the original theme of former movies, just wait and see. "I think people assume they know what it's going to be about, and those people are wrong. The assumptions, everything you read online is wrong."
