The HTC One is about to hit the U.S. market next week, and HTC has unleashed an expensive ad campaign to back its flagship phone, including a new Funny or Die video featuring James Van Der Beek.

In a bit of self-parody, the former Dawson's Creek actor plays the host of an odd dating game show where an eligible woman selects from a crowd of anxious suitors.

But she's shopping for a phone, not a significant other, and the [hones are actually guys dressed up like phones. All except the HTC One, of course, which is "everything your phone isn't."

Van Der Beek makes casual passes at the contestant, but she only has eyes for the HTC One, shiny and silent on it plastic pedestal.

A rival smartphone can't compete because he only has a single speaker, as opposed to the dual speaker setup on the One. A feature phone can't offer apps because he's stuck in the 90s. A lack of 4G LTE washes out another candidate, and the rotary phone never had a chance.

Of course, this is an HTC commercial, so the contestant finds love in the arms of the HTC One, or rather, the other way around.

It's a funny video, though not up to the usual raunchy or edgy fare that normally comes out of Funny or Die. HTC seems to want to make "Zoe" a verb, like "google it" or "Facebook me," but it's not going to happen.

The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.

Check back for the latest updates on the HTC One as they become available.
