Fans of Shonda Rhimes' hit ABC drama 'Scandal' are dying to get some scoop of upcoming episodes during the painstakingly long two-week hiatus. The drama returns next week with a very exciting guest star-Jasika Nicole ('Fringe').
According to Carter Matt, Nicole will play a woman who has "a major role in messing around with the lives of both Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn)." Further details of Nicole's involvement, unfortunately, are not available. However, the episode, which is being called "Seven Fifty-Two" by ABC, will be Huck (Guillermo Diaz) centric.
ABC teases: "Secrets from Huck's life before Pope and Associates are revealed, Olivia and Fitz engage in an emotionally charged conversation, unaware of the fact that someone could be watching, and Olivia's team comes together to help one of their own. Meanwhile, Cyrus (Jeff Perry) is becoming increasingly skeptical of Jake (Scott Foley), and Mellie (Bellamy Young) makes a decision that could bring down the White House."
As for Cyrus and James (Dan Bucatinsky), TVLine spoke to Bucatinsky to get some details about the future of the on-screen couple. According to the actor, Cyrus and James may be on the outs but he doesn't necessarily think it's the end of their marriage. But could knowledge of Cy's failed hit attempt on James' life be the end of the two?
"I'm really glad that James doesn't know that that happened, because I think that would be a harder thing to justify. As an actor, I have to play with the reality of what I know," Bucatinsky said. "James made certain decisions that were for the good of his family and his marriage, and Cyrus made decisions that were based on not just the good of the country and the good of the work relationship he has, but, ultimately, good for his marriage and family."
The actor added, " So, the way I wrap my brain around it is, in the world of Scandal - which is heightened - what you consider to be the normal level of forgiveness is amped up. This is a show about people who are willing to do almost anything to get what they want - James included. And I think, once you accept that rule of the game then you start to judge all the characters on that playing field... Ultimately, the fact that Cyrus didn't have him killed is suddenly looked at as such a romantic gesture."
'Scandal' airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC after 'Grey's Anatomy.' The show returns after a brief hiatus on April 18.
