You might remember a pretty incredible promotion that digital comics provider ComiXology and Marvel were offering last month. The two partnered up to give away unlimited downloads for over 700 issue #1's for free. Unfortunately, the offer was so popular it promptly crashed their servers, leaving most people sadly comic-less.

"We expected a high degree of excitement for the Marvel initiative - and had believed ourselves prepared - but unfortunately we became overwhelmed by the immense response," said ComiXology CEO David Steinberger.

Luckily though, they're going to give it a another shot. In an effort to keep the traffic at a reasonable level though, you're going to have to sign up in advance. To be eligible for the offer, you need to head on over to promo.marvel.com by 11:59 EST tonight, and sign up for an account.

Beginning on Thursday, April 11, those who got their registrations in on time will start to be given access to the download site. If you don't receive your email right away, don't panic, because ComiXology has stated that they will be sending them out in waves. If you happened to miss your email however, do panic, because you only have 48 hours upon receiving it to grab your free comics.

The promotion is being called Marvel #1, and seems to be aimed at getting both newcomers and longtime readers to try a few different comics out to see if anything clicks. The free issues will be available to read digitally on the iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, at comiXology.com, and the Marvel Digital Comics shop, which is powered by comiXology.

The titles range from a few older classics, fan favorite event arcs, and historic mini-series, as well as the more recent issues of Marvel NOW! such as The Avengers, New Avengers, Spider-Man, Captain America, and All-New X-Men.
