We're getting closer. "The Vampire Diaries" season finale is right around the corner, and naturally, things are starting to heat up. Drama continues to unfold as Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) past is unveiled, Elena (Nina Dobrev) wreaks havoc on Mystic Falls, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline (Candice Accola) team up, and the cure finds its way into the wrong hands. As tensions in Mystic Falls escalate, what better way to bring it all to a boil than prom night? That's right, prom is coming to "The Vampire Diaries" in episode 19 and it promises to end as badly as any prom night could, which as we all know, is really really bad.

"We just started shooting the prom episode, which is episode 19 and graduation is going to be the finale," said Executive Producer Julie Plec. "We'll get to end the season with all of those great questions of who's going to be where, who's going to be with who, who's going to do what."

Oh man, this sounds good. All the cast's stars are bound to be dressed to the nines and in full form as the big night approaches. What's even more exciting is that we don't know who will be going with whom. Which hubby will Elena pair up with for high school's most glorious evening? "You may have to wait until someone puts up the wrong photos or I accidentally slip and say something in the press," Plec responded.

What we do know is that Elena "suddenly lashes out in a way no one could have predicted," and although Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) show up to keep things under control, "the evening begins to spiral out of control despite their efforts." While Elena ruins prom night (big surprise) Caroline becomes increasingly upset, as she had "carefully laid plans for the perfect Senior Prom night."

What is upheld as high school's biggest night will certainly stand true in "The Vampire Diaries" episode 19. Mystic Falls is on the brink of disaster, and what better catalyst to bring everything down than prom night?

"The Vampire Diaries" airs on The CW, Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EDT
