After many weeks of speculations on who would direct the next James Bond film, MGM studios announced the next James Bond movie would be released in the next three years.

In a conference call, MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber said the studio was developing the screenplay for the next, 24th movie in the 50-year-old franchise about the British secret agent. He stated "We are very excited about the franchise; we look forward to announcing a director soon. We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released." Baber also talked about Sam Mendes and stated "Mendes did an amazing job on 'Skyfall'. We are very thankful for the work that he did."

Barber gave no details on casting but Daniel Craig has already signed on for two films in the lead role as the 007 agent.

Dwayne Johnson recently stated that he wanted to star in James Bond 24. He stated that he wanted to be the villain because his grandfather was in the film. Recently Guy Ritchie emerged as the favorite after British bookmaker William Hill did a study. Danny Boyle also made headlines when he declared that he was not interested in directing a James Bond film because it was too big and did not suit his character or the type of films he was accustomed to making.

"Skyfall" became the most successful Bond movie ever made and received 5 Academy Award nominations and won 2 including Adele Adkin's Song "Skyfall." The film was also the recipient of 2 BAFTA awards including Best British Film.
