There are only a couple episodes remaining in the fourth season of 'The Vampire Diaries.' It's all coming down to this. In anticipation for the upcoming episode "Because the Night," The CW has released a second sneak peek spoiler video for fans who can't wait for Thursday to come.

The video shows Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in another heated argument after Klaus approaches her without prior warning, hoping to talk with her. Much to his chagrin, Caroline is still visibly upset that he forced Tyler (Michael Trevino) out of town. Stefan then interjects by admitted that he invited Klaus over to the house because he believes that Silas is in town. Caroline and Stefan then try to convince Klaus to help track him down.

Meanwhile, as Elena (Nina Dobrev) continues to wreak havoc on Mystic Falls, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) realizes that sending her back to school was a poor decision. He then tempts her out of school by offering to take her on a romantic visit to New York City. Unfortunately, the trip is spoiled when Rebekah (Calire Holt) appears and discovers that Elena has a secret agenda, unbeknownst to Damon. Throughout their little excursion, flashbacks set in New York City offer glimpses into Damon's hedonistic lifestyle as he was trapped in the underground club scene in the 1970s, unveiling haunted memories of Lexi (guest star Arielle Kebbel).

Somerhalder even commented on the unveiling of his past. "It's so cool because you get to experience so many times in Damon's life. Now mind you, because there were so many decades, I think he evolved slower than most. I also love that because we get to go back and romanticize the social happenings of that time, we're really reminded of the United States' deep history and what Damon lived through is just a drop in the bucket compared to the other characters, who can go back thousands of years."

He then touched upon his character's past relationship with Lexi. "What's cool about it is that you see how long and turbulent their history is. There are just so many different agendas and egos at play, but at the end of the day, both Lexi and Damon love Stefan, so to see them interacting throughout an episode where they're not trying to kill each other or making derogatory jokes to one another the entire time is amazing. There was a real relationship there, so it was fun to explore."

'The Vampire Diaries,' S4E17 airs Thursday, March 21 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
