Will Samsung increase its smartphone appeal to consumers after people in the U.S. finally get their hands on the company's latest cutting-edge mobile device, the Samsung Galaxy S3?

Although one can argue that Samsung is indeed more appealing than Apple devices since it currently lists as the world's largest smartphone vendor, this doesn't necessarily mean that people prefer Samsung smartphones over Apple iPhones.

An online poll initiated by the Latinos post on June 16 aimed at measuring people's smartphone preference found that 69 percent of the voters considered Apple iPhones more appealing than Samsung smartphones.

Out of more than 2,500 votes, 1,744 votes (69%) favored Apple's overall smartphone appeal against Samsung's 701 votes (27.8%) that favored devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, S2, among others. 3.21 percent of the votes favored other brands such as HTC, Motorola and Blackberry.

The number of voters in favor of Apple iPhones rose by a significant 10 percent since a last report published on June 18 found that 58.8 percent out of 1,007 voters voted in favor of Apple against 38.8 percent of the votes going to Samsung.

But those numbers could easily change.

According to the latest reports, the UK had more than 9 million Galaxy S3 preorders a week ahead of its launch and in the U.S., things could play out similarly. Already carriers in the U.S. such as Sprint and T-Mobile have announced delays to the delivery citing "overwhelming demand and limited supply" a day before the device's release.

The Galaxy Series smartphones are the iPhones greatest competitors yet, and as they become more and more ubiquitous, the Galaxy S3 with its release could arguably be a turning point for consumers to direct their attention away from iPhones.

Already are various reports giving the S3 a better review than Apple's most recent smartphone the 4S, and until Apple releases its next device, one can expect Samsung to absorb all the attention.

However expect Apple to keep its fighting position in this brewing smartphone battle. Many rumors are circling the internet with regards to Apple's next generation iPhone or iPhone 5 that could represent the company's largest smartphone design overhaul since the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 5 (once it is released) should be competing against the Galaxy S3. Experts say that the iPhone 5 could be release as early as September of this year.

With the iPhone 5 release an analyst has stated that Apple could become the most profitable company ever.
