Consumers in Australia eager to get their hands on the Sony Xperia Z will need to wait a bit longer, until Mar. 26 when the phone will be available from Telstra.

The Xperia Z is available for preorder now. "The phone is available in Black or White, as well as Purple -- exclusive to Telstra, but only available online. Telstra is also offering a pre-order bonus -- a wireless NFC speaker, worth $129," AusDroid writes.

"The Xperia Z is available for $63 per month on a 24 Month plan, which includes $600 of calls/MMS as well as unlimited SMS and 1GB of Data."

If you don't want a contract, you  can opt to buy the Xperia Z upfront and unsubsidized. "Off contract, the 5-incher is expected to go for sale in a matter of days via Sony's online store and a couple of other retailers for $749," Android Authority says.

Customers who aren't on Telstra will have to wait even longer. "Vodafone and Optus, the other two networks expected to carry Sony's flagship, are yet to announce something specific on release dates or pricing. Which probably means they'll not start shipping the Z until April after all."

The Sony Xperia Z features a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 pixel display, a 13.1 megapixel camera with 1080p video, 16 GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, though Sony has promised a quick upgrade to 4.2. It is waterproof down to a meter in depth for up to half an hour.
