Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be introducing microtransactions to Xbox 360 owners tomorrow, and to PlayStation 3 and PC owners at a later date. A report from MCV is reporting that Activision is be enabling so-called "Micro Items" into the game for the first time.

Players worried that the game will become broken as players simply buy their way through the ranks can rest assured knowing that these items are for vanity luxuries or for customization, .

"At the end of the day, all of these items are completely optional, and were created for players who've asked for more customization options...," Activision's Dan Amrich said.

So what are these bonus options players can buy? For starters, players can grab Personalization Packs for 160 Microsoft Points ($2). These will include brand new weapon camos, three targeting reticules, and a Calling Card for players. Gamers looking to show off some national pride can by the Flags of the World Calling Card Packs for 80 Microsoft Points ($1). The Extra Slots Pack will give players ten additional Create-A-Class slots, with extra media storage space to accompany them.

In addition to the customizable items that are going on sale, a new multiplayer zombie map Nuketown 2025 will be available for sale.

Microtransactions, a long time fixture in free-to-play and indie developed games, have started to appear in major blockbuster titles as well. EA has stated that all of the company's future releases will include microtransactions.

This practice has gained some controversy, due to some gamers taking offense that billion dollar companies would charge gamers even more money after buying a game. Still, it is a complicated issue, and gamers can always choose not to use microtransactions if they do not want to.
