Yesterday at SXSW, Marvel revealed what their "Marvel First" campaign actually is. The publisher has officially announced their plan to give away 700 free first issues via Comixology, an online digital comics distributor.

The titles range from favorites like Daredevil and Captain Marvel, Marvel event story arcs, mini-series, more recent Marvel NOW! launches such as The Avengers, New Avengers, Spider-Man, Captain America, and All-New X-Men, as well as many older volumes.

These issues are available completely free of charge, and only require a free account on Comixology. This offer expires tomorrow though, so definitely check it out as soon as possible.

In addition, Marvel is also launching their own subscription based comic app called "Marvel Unlimited." It will hit iPhones and iPads this month, and will give users access to the entire Marvel library for $9.99 a month or $59.88 annually. This includes a catalog of over 13,000 back issues, with more on the way. However, newer issues will be on a six month delay, so as to not cut into Marvel's print business.

The app will allow users to add comics to their library, much in the same way Spotify works, and also store up to six issues for offline reading. Marvel Unlimited's massive library can be sorted by character, series, creator, or story event, and will also sync your downloaded comics across all of your devices.

You can check out Marvel Unlimited here.
