After a hiatus from the small screen Myrka Dellanos is back, and better than ever.

Dellanos has lived through a lot of struggles including three marriages, abandonment, domestic violence, diabetes and weight gain but that all remains in the past for her.

During a recent interview with People en Español the Cuban-American journalist and TV host spoke to the magazine about some of her low points in life and her amazing comeback.

After leaving her show "Primer Impacto" in 2004, Dellanos was back in the eye of the media four years later. In an earlier article, People en Español reported that in April 2008 she married the then 26-year-old Ulysses Daniel Alonso to call 911 four months later to denounce him for domestic violence.

Although the marriage was tainted from the start it lasted 21 months after Dellanos tried to make it work. The couple finally divorced in January of 2010.

In addition to the rocky marriage, people she trusted also let her down.

"I spent many difficult years with moments of sadness, frustration when I saw people with whom I worked with for years turn against me and say things that were untrue," she said in reference to her the battle in court between her and Alonso.

"All of it pained me so much, it was a horrible stage in my life, but the thing it taught me is that we are survivors and that we can continue," Dellanos added.

During this time of pain and loss of support, the ex-TV host found comfort in her church. The magazine reports that she began giving motivational speeches and joined "Yo Soy Segundo", a movement that aims to inspire people to live for God and to put him first in their lives.

As Dellanos began to rebuild her life, she noticed one more thing was missing.

During the interview the Cuban-American spoke about a day last year where she saw herself in a commercial and didn't recognize who that person was after having gained30 pounds. "I said: 'That's not me.' I didn't even want to look at myself in the mirror. Then I decided: 'I have to do something now!"

Dellanos began a diet and exercise regimen - which she shares step-by-step in in the latest edition of the magazine - and she fought through the internal voices that would tell her to give up. Now 30 pounds lighter, she is ready to once again take on the world.

Here is a deeper look at Dellanos story for Yo Soy Segundo.
