Michael Vick Visits Petsmart for Dog Training

What does Michael Vick and Bin Laden have in common? The answer may surprise you. 

They both have a magical connection to man's best friend. In this case, the Belgian Malinois as Vick showed recently while at a PetSmart in New Jersey. 

According to TMZ, the Philadelphia Eagles QB was there to get training for his dog named Angel. The family Vick was at Petsmart accompanied by their bodyguard.  

Hearing "Michael Vick"  and the "dog"-anything will always make some people cringe. After all, Michael Vick will always be synonymous with dog-fighting and animal cruelty. In October, he admitted that he owned a dog, but noted that he was doing it primarily for his kids to start over. 

"I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family's decision to care for a pet," Vick said. "As a father, it's important to make sure the children my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God's creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change." 

In all fairness, Michael Vick did do his time for his running of a dogfighting ring. He was convicted of dogfighting along with three defendants and served two years in jail.  It's just always weird when people who have drowned and/or killed God's creatures bring up the term "God's creatures". I'd rather a guy just say "Hey, at least it's not a pit bull." or "Give me a break."

So, how does this connect to Bin Laden?

Well, it turns out that the cute Belgian Malinois is tougher than it looks. Not only is the breed used by the Navy SEALS, but according to TMZ, the SEALS had a Belgian Malinois with them when they took down Bin Laden. 

If those dogs could handle terrorists, then learning to stay or fetch should be a piece of cake. Now, if they could only help Michael Vick stay in the pocket.
