General Motors has revamped their line of full-size pickup trucks for the 2014 model year and the automaker plans to show just how much they changed as far as pricing, performance and fuel economy when they release official specifications this month.
"We plan to put smiles on the faces of our customers," said Kurt McNeil, GM vice president of U.S. sales operations. McNeil said that both the Silverado and GMC Sierra are on "on track" in regard to the production schedule, as reported by MLive.com.
"This will begin a rolling cadence across our three pickup plants that will continue into the third quarter," McNeil said.
"We are on plan and we are not contemplating any changes to our production given our strong performance and favorable outlook."
And once the new pickups roll off the assembly line, expect to see transformations to the powertrain, which will include all-new EcoTec3 engines that will include a 4.3-liter six-cylinder, 5.3-liter eight-cylinder and 6.2-liter eight-cylinder renditions.
An updated infotainment system will also be featured on the new line of pickups.
The GMC Sierra is expected to weigh 17 pounds lighter and will also feature available features like forward collision and lane departure alert systems that are also optional on the 2014 Silverado.

The GMC Sierra is expected to go on sale in the summer, while the Sierra is slated to hit showrooms in the spring.
