The 2014 Audi A3 has been captured by auto spies and the snapshots have been posted on WorldCarFans.com.

The photographs reveal that the new Audi A3 appears similar to the concept rendition that debuted at the Geneva auto show in 2011.

Of course the prototype seen being tested on the road is shrouded in camouflage as is customary for any test drive, but the familiar LED headlamps can be detected on the new entry-level sedan that is intended to go head-to-head with the Mercedes CLA.

The spy photos also reveal that the 2014 Audi A3 seems to be outfitted with a small trunk and an integrated spoiler, according to WorldCarFans.com.

The new sedan is expected to measure 14.57 feet in length, 6.04 feet wide and 4.56 feet tall.

But powertrain options are expected to remain the same in the new A3 and include six different engines:

-       1.2 TSFI / 105 horsepower / 129 pound-feet of torque

-       1.4 TSFI / 122 horsepower / 147 pound-feet of torque

-       1.4 TSFI / 140 horsepower / 184 pound-feet of torque

-       1.8 TSFI / 180 horsepower / 184 pound-feet of torque

-       2.0 TDI / 150 horsepower / 236 pound-feet of torque

-       2.0 TDI / 184 horsepower / 280 pound-feet of torque

The wagon version of the A3 is not expected to make its way to the U.S.

Price and release dates have yet to be announced but make sure to keep an eye out for the new A3 at either the Geneva or Frankfurt auto show.
