Is the eldest first daughter dating? Recent comments made by President Barack Obama seem to imply that 14-year-old Malia has entered the dating world.
During a school visit to Decatur, Georgia on Valentine's Day, the president revealed that as his daughters get older, "they have sleepovers and dates." The comment allegedly prompted rumors that the teenager has started dating, the Daily Mail reported. According to the British publication, the White House has refused to comment on the subject.
Speaking to a large crowd to promote his new plan for universal access to pre-k, the president spoke about his two daughters and his plans for the holiday with his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama. "I do have to warn the parents who are here, who still have young kids, they group up to be, like five feet 10 inches. And even if they're still nice to you, they basically don't have a lot of time for you during the weekends," Obama said.
The president added, "They have sleepovers and dates. So all that early investment just leaves them to go away."
This isn't the first time the president has spoken about his growing daughters entering the dating world. According to the Daily Mail, President Obama joked about any young man stepping up to date one of his girls. During an interview with Ryan Seacrest prior to the election in November, President Obama said, "I think that any young man who has got the guts to get through Secret Service deserves a hearing!"
The British newspaper added that mom Michelle has made sure that the Obama girls, Malia and younger sister Sasha, 11, have as normal a childhood as possible. President Obama has said, "Michelle is very good about making sure that we're creating a space for them where they can have sleepovers. They can go to the mall. They can go to the movies."
"They're going to homecomings at their school," he added.
The first daughters will be spending most of their teenage years while their father serves his second term in office.
