Update: Monique Tatum, the creator and producer of 'The Reality of FASHION The Reality of AIDS' runway benefit, issued the following statement to clarify previously reported details about this story:

"Janice was an integral part of our event and flew mid snow storm to be a part of The Reality of FASHION The Reality of AIDS. We were very appreciative of that. Janice and I bonded behind the curtain prior to the show as I spoke about my father passing away from AIDS and she told me about how when she was younger it broke her heart that a bunch of her friends began passing away from the terrible disease. Janice Dickinson did need to leave immediately after the show as she had another engagement to attend. We are celebrity publicists and that is nothing new.  I am 100% positive that she did not intend to leave with her pieces as her team was on the phone with ours immediately. Being that we were all staying in the same hotel, with myself personally a few doors down from Janice I did ok the pick up of the pieces the next day. Sunday morning Janice returned the pieces via her publicist and later during the day we actually sat and chatted in her hotel room. She was extremely kind to me. I greeted her when she opened the door with a rose and before I left her room she gave me a teddy bear. She talked to me about my career, and the career of our designer. She said she enjoyed walking in the show and loved the Dominique Auxilly pieces. I even posted on my Facebook how that moment was the highlight of my day. She was one of the jewels in the crown of our show and we greatly appreciate her participation."

Janice Dickinson apparently forgot to return $20,000 worth of jewelry after she borrowed them for a runway show benefit at New York Fashion Week, but it was reportedly all a misunderstanding.

Dickinson, 57, borrowed the brand Effy jewels for a runway benefit, 'The Reality of FASHION and the Reality of AIDS,' and when she left the catwalk, she forgot to return them, the NY Post reports.

Organizers had to track Dickinson down to recover the gems.

"If you're insinuating anything funny going on, you're barking up the wrong tree," said the former America's Next Top Model judge, according to this Hollyscoop video.

A representative from the event, Monique Tatum, also defended Dickinson, saying it had all been a mistake.

"Janice Dickinson did need to leave immediately after the show as she had another engagement to attend," she told the Huffington Post. "I am 100% positive that she did not intend to leave with her pieces as her team was on the phone with ours immediately...She was one of the jewels in the crown of our show and we greatly appreciate her participation."

This isn't the first time the self-dubbed "world's first supermodel" had a little trouble on the runway. According to NY Mag, she was "banned from all IMG events, including New York Fashion Week," for attending drunk.
