Three people were killed in a helicopter crash while filming for a new reality TV show from the Discovery Channel, the Associated Press reports.

The helicopter went down early Sunday morning at Polsa Rosa Ranch in Acton, Calif., which is a popular site for shooting reality shows and movies.

All three people on board died. Their identities have not been released, and it is not clear whether they were actors in the unnamed reality show or members of the production crew.

"A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred," said Discovery channel spokeswoman Lauri Goldberg in a statement provided by the AP. "We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families."

The Polsa Rosa Ranch markets itself as a "movie ranch" that offers a variety of landscapes, including railroad tracks, a jungle and "forest with running river," a junkyard, a wooden bridge, and a "New England styled period township with eight structures," according to the company's website.

Last year, according to the AP, "it was the site of another entertainment industry death in September, when a 48-year-old crew member died of an apparenty heart attack while underwater in scuba gear on the set of the upcoming Johnny Depp film 'The Lone Ranger.'"

The cause of Sunday's crash has not been determined. A spokesman for the show's production company, Philip Sokoloski, said that they had received a permit to operate the helicopter from the Federal Aviation Administration.

"We wouldn't have reference helicopter activity if we didn't already have pre-approval from the FAA," Sokoloski said, the AP reported.
