After losing his senate seat, a former Massachusetts senator could appear as a regular contributor on a cable news channel.
After seeing the departure of contributors Sarah Palin and Dick Morris from the Fox News Channel, reports are circulating that Scott Brown is in talks to be the network's next contributor.
According to Politico, a spokesperson for Fox News has confirmed to the news site that former Massachusetts Senator Brown has been in discussions with Roger Ailes' network.
The news coincides with the latest announcement by Brown that he will not seek reelection in June to replace John Kerry's senate seat after the latter was named secretary of state for the Obama administration.
"Over these past few weeks I have given serious thought about the possibility of running again, as events have created another vacancy requiring another special election," stated Brown in a prepared statement last week. "I have received a lot of encouragement from friends and supporters to become a candidate, and my competitive instincts were leading in the same direction."
In the end, he confirmed, "That is why I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for the United States Senate in the upcoming special election."
Brown lost his seat back in November to Elizabeth Warren despite having favorable job approval ratings. He was also leading hypothetical polls against Democratic challengers for June's special election.
Mass. Gov. Devall Patrick has named an interim senator with William "Mo" Cowan, who noted he does not plan on running for the senate seat fulltime once the special election season arrives.
