Samsung Galaxy S2 owners everywhere have been denied their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for some time now, and it looks like the upgrade is hitting another international region in the initial phases of its rollout. The latest market to receive the Galaxy S2 update is now South Korea.
According to SamMobile and other reports, Galaxy S2 model SHW-M250L is the latest recipient of Jelly Bean. SamMobile even goes to on to state that the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 is the "most major update given to a smartphone yet" and that the update includes Samsung's Nature UX interface, which runs on up-to-date Galaxy S3s and Galaxy S3 minis. As is the norm with Android updates, Jelly Bean is going out in batches, so if you are on Samsung's home turf and haven't received the update yet, don't worry, it should hit your device soon.
The Android 4.1 update for the Galaxy S2 is already available in Spain and China, and many more international markets are set to receive it soon. Samsung Ukraine recently stated that it would begin rolling out Jelly Bean for the GT-I9100 variant of the Galaxy S2 starting on March 3. There's no word on when U.S. carriers will begin pushing out the update, but don't hold your breath - U.S. carriers are notorious for taking a long time before they give their customers an a boost to their Android operating systems.
If you can't wait for the update to arrive OTA, then here's a firmware that will boost your Galaxy S2 up to Android 4.1. It's not official, and comes with a cautionary warning, so be sure to back up your device and read instructions carefully.
