Carnegie Hall has announced their 2013-2014 season which will include a seven-concert residency with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Among other major events are two joint performances by the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera. Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Project will celebrate its 16th anniversary while Broadway legends Kristen Chenoweth and Patti Lupone will offer a musical themed concert.
For those interested in classical singing, the 2013-14 season will offer the long awaited recital debut of superstar tenor Jonas Kaufmann. Soprano Natalie Dessay will offer a program of French and German songs and the Met Orchestra will return for their annual three concert series.
James Levine returns to the podium after a two year absence and will conduct works by Beethoven, Mahler, Rossini and Dvorak. He will be joined by cellist Lynn Harrell, mezzo soprano Joyce DiDonato and baritone Peter Mattei.
Among the many soloists that will be featured next season are violinists Hilary Hahn, Lisa Batiashvili, Gil Shaham, and pianists Emanuel Ax, Mitsuko Uchida, Murray Perahia, and Helene Grimaud.
The world's greatest orchestras will perform including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Theater, the Munich Philharmonic and the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra.
Conductors Yannick Nezet Seguin, Michael Tilson Thomas, Yuri Temrikanov, Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Danielle Gatti and Franz Welzer Moist will return to the podium.
The season will also feature chamber music, contemporary groups such as the Kronos Quartet, Jazz, and pop programs.
The new season will open on October 2nd with Joshua Bell performing works by Saint Saens and Tchaikovsky. Yannick Nezet Seguin will lead the Philadelphia Orchestra.
