For months, it has been notoriously difficult for consumers to get their hands on a Google Nexus 4 smartphone, but those lucky enough to snag the elusive device can now download the new Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 firmware via the Android Open Kang Project Build 2 ROM, according to a recent International Business Times (IBT) report.

Coming off the heels of news that the Nexus 4 is finally available on T-Mobile's official retail site, this latest update "brings a host of new features for the Nexus 4, including Booting animation enhancements, Lockscreen and Navigation Bar updates, and Powerkey shutter enhancement for the camera," adds IBT.

Notably, the Nexus 4 already runs off of Jelly Bean, adorned with the Google Now voice assistant and Project Butter's performance enhancements. Please note that Premium Suite, a Jelly Bean supplement found on the Samsung Galaxy S series, is exclusive to the Korean company's line of smartphones and will not roll out on the Nexus 4.

As Latinos Post reported earlier, an LG official assured Korean publication Chosun Biz that "Domestic Pyeongtaek plant in Nexus 4 has been produced without a hitch. There is no problem in supplying," suggesting that supplies will pick up steadily as the new year carries on.

Google's flagship smartphone features a 4.7-inch screen with 1280x768 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, up to 16GB of memory, NFC a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Those who sign a two-year contract with T-Mobile can purchase the 16GB version of the device for $199.99.
