Nintendo fans hoping to get "Resident Evil 6" on the Wii U will have to continue waiting, but Capcom is offering up a solid consolation prize; possibly a better one than "RE6."

Numerous reports indicate that the 3DS title "Resident Evil: Revelations" will be making its way to the Wii U, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony Playstation 3 in a new HD version. "Revelations" will also be available for download on the PC and Playstation 3. The title is slated for release on May 21 in North America and May 24 in Europe and will reportedly cost $50.

The game originally launched on the Nintendo 3DS handheld console on Feb. 7, 2012 and its story took place on a boat and combined the series' horror roots with its more recent action emphasis. Among the new additions to the HD version are the inclusion of Hunk as a new playable character in the co-op Raid mode, a new enemy, a harder difficulty, and brand new weapons and custom parts in Raid mode.

"Revelations" launched with an 82 aggregate score from Metacritic.com. "Resident Evil 6" received vastly inferior reviews from critics. The Xbox 360 version of the title obtained an aggregate score of 67 while the Playstation 3 version was awarded a score of 74.
