During an interview with Indiewire, Brazilian director Walter Salles revealed that he is currently working on two scripts which will star Gael Garcia Bernal, Ricardo Darin and Fernanda Montenegro.

After the premiere of his latest film "On the Road" Salles revealed his plans for the two films he is currently writing. The first of the two is "Terra" which is slated to star Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal (Babel, The Motorcycle Diaires) and Argentine Ricardo Darin (The Secret in Their Eyes, Carancho). The project, which was first talked about at 2010's Cannes Film Festival, will be set in Argentina and Chile. Salles described the project as being about two half brothers who travel to Patagonia, which is an area shared by Argentina and Chile, after discovering that their father had a mistress there. While talking to Indiewire, Salles stated that he is hesitant to speak about the plotline because he does not want anything to be set in stone as he would like to continue to explore themes. Additionally Salles stated that he has been working close to Bernal for two years and that "for some reason, the projects I do take a long time to mature."

Salles did reveal that he is also currently working with the trio of screenwriters from Carancho,  Alejandro Fadel, Martin Mauregui and Santiago Mitre.

The other project that Salles is also working on is one he is developing for actress Fernanda Montenegro (Love in the Time of Cholera), the star of his 1998 feature "Central Station" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Foreign Film. He gave no further details on the project.

There is no information about when he will start to shoot either one but earlier reports stated that Salles was to reteam with production company Tu Vas Voiur for Terra and that the film would start shooting by the end of the year.

Walter Salles best known for his 2004 film "The Motocycle Diaires," has remained quiet in the world of cinema for the past four years as he worked on his highly anticipated film "On the Road" which just premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The film which received a mixed reception screened in competition at the festival walking home with no awards. After seven years, the film which was acquired by IFC films, will hit US theaters this year. "On the Road" based on the Jack Kerouac novel stars Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley and Garret Hedlund.
