Temple Run 2, the sequel to Imangi Studios' highly addictive, never ending action game Temple Run, has had a pretty good week. Released last Wednesday for Apple iOS devices in the United States, by Thursday, Temple Run 2 had already become the most downloaded free app in the Apple App Store. Now Imangi Studios is promising an Android version of Temple Run 2 later this week.

Now, within a week of its release, Imangi Studios has announced that Temple Run 2 has already been downloaded over 20 Million times in the first four days it was available on the App Store. In that time, Temple Run 2 players have collectively played through 210 million sessions, which equals 1,775 years of total combined wasted time.

"The response from fans has been overwhelming," said Imangi's Keith Shepherd.

We noted earlier that most reviews for the game have been positive, though Time and Wired were less than impressed with the new installment. No matter for Imangi Studios, whose sequel is not only the top free download in the App Store, but the number three top grossing App as well, according to their release. The game maker had already cashed in big with Temple run, including licensing their brand for apparel, sleepwear, digital comics, board games, card games, and arcade games. And last year in June, Disney launched a promotional version of Temple Run featuring the world of Brave, one of that summer's hit kids movies.

Both Temple Run games feature tomb raiders who steal an icon from a temple and then must escape the jaws of demonic monkeys, but Temple Run 2 introduced nicer graphics, new obstacles, curvy paths, and zip lines and mine carts for players to navigate.
