Country-pop singer Taylor Swift and seasoned actor Michael J. Fox appear to be on good terms following a comment made by Fox that Swift "back off" his son. Following a joke made by Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler about the starlet's love life, Fox told reporter that he did not want her dating his 23-year-old son.

Fox told Vulture.com, "No. No...Just back off," when asked whether he would support a romance between the two 23-year-olds. He added, "I don't keep up with it all. But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career."

However, the actor apparently apologized to Swift once the comment made the rounds online. "Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good," Swift tweeted to fans. "Thank you for having my back."

The comment, and the joke Fey and Poehler, may have caused the singer to rethink her openness about her relationships. According to Radar.com, Swift no longer finds all the comments about her love life funny.

"At first Taylor just thought it was funny how much interest people had in her love life and she went along with it," a supposed close friend told the website. They added, "But now she's the butt of jokes on 'Saturday Night Live,' in the tabloids and on late night shows. She laughed it off, but the jokes made about her at the Golden Globes got under her skin."

The singer is known to use her failed relationships, with the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and Harry Styles, as inspiration to write her songs. However, they might not be so inspirational any more. Her friend told Radar, "The jokes being made about her love life embarrass her, but it's finally hit home with Taylor."

They add, "She really wants to make an effort to slow down and not jump from boyfriend to boyfriend. In a weird way all the negative press has really opened her eyes and will be good for her!"
