"I am Garrett. Did you miss me?" asks Thief's protagonist in the latest trailer for Eidos Montreal's upcoming reboot of the series. For many fans of the legendary series, the answer to this question is a resounding yes. While previous trailers promised the game for PS4, PC, and "other next-generation consoles," the latest video confirms an Xbox One release for 2014. The trailer combines live action performances with a touch of gameplay footage for good measure.

Although the team plans on reinventing the franchise, Eidos Montreal plans on channeling the spirit of Thief's stealthy past.

"To make it short, we are working very hard to support how you want to play the game," producer Stephane Roy told NowGamer in an interview. "So in the morning you are more aggressive, we can see it when you are using the mouse, keyboard and controller - the game will follow you. If you are more quiet and want nobody to see you, the game will answer perfectly."

Garrett have a compound bow, grappling hook, collection of flash grenades, and lock picks at his disposal to overcome his adversary, a politician known as 'The Baron.' The plague-ridden setting of "The City" will serve as Garrett's playground.

The reboot, currently under development at the studio which brought us Deus Ex: Human Revolution, will be published by Square-Enix. Deus Ex was crafted by a different team within Eidos Montreal, but Roy explains that the challenges of developing an open-ended stealth game have been eased thanks to their close connection to Human Revolution's creators.

Thief will certainly maintain a sizable presence at E3, so stay tuned for updates as they break.
