Samsung is starting to roll out updates to its long line of mobile devices, and among them, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is getting a newer version of Android now. Android 4.2.2 is coming to the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, so owners of that device can now celebrate.

But don't celebrate too hard, because the Android 4.2.2 update is likely the last version of Google's Jelly Bean operating system to come to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Beginning in France, according to Samsung-watching site SamMobile, the Android 4.2.2 update has the build number P3100XXDMG6, and is beginning to roll out across the globe.

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update gives owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 a few nice changes and updates, including lockscreen widgets, a notifications panel in the status bar, more accessibility options, and the ability to set up several different user accounts with different settings. A few widgets and the launcher for the Galaxy S4 are also coming to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 as well. There's also the daydreams screensaver mode and backside improvements in performance with the update.

We're still waiting to hear if the Samsung Galaxy S3, the most popular of Samsung's offerings last year, will get that Android update to Android 4.3. On late Friday, Google began rolling out the Android 4.3 update to its Google Play editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4, so regular Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S3 owners are probably clamoring for the update. Previously, rumors alleged that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be updated directly to Android 4.3, bypassing any intermediate updates.

But now that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is being updated to Android 4.2.2, and earlier in the week, Galaxy S2 Plus owners in Germany started receiveing the update, expect more mid-range devices to begin getting Android 4.2.2. Meanwhile, we'll keep you posted on Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4, and let you know whenever an update starts coming down stream.
