Another actor has been added to the cast list of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie. Variety has revealed that that actor is Ben Hardy, who known for his role as Peter Beale in the British TV program EastEnders. Hardy's role in the movie is still unknown at the moment but the entertainment news site said he would play "a key role" to 20th Century Fox's much-awaited movie.

Cinema Blend noted that Hardy was earlier part of the shortlist for the actors being considered for the part of Cyclops or Scott Summers. However, he obviously did not get it as the role has already been given to "Tree of Life" actor Tye Sheridan. The news outlet said that the production "apparently saw something" in Hardy that they included him to be part of the film.

Cinema Blend has also some take on Hardy's character. "It makes sense to guess that Ben Hardy will be playing the younger version of a key mutant character who may or may not have already been introduced in this franchise." It speculated that Hardy may or may not play the role of Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin or Colossus, a role that has been previously assigned to Daniel Cudmore.

The Wrap says in its exclusive report that there were rumors that Hardy would be playing the role of Angel but the site's unidentified sources claim the actor is getting a different role.

Hardy's new role in the upcoming movie might explain why his "EastEnders" role Peter Beale decided to leave for New Zealand in the show. His role's recent statement in the show says, "I'm going away for a while to stay with Steven in New Zealand," the Daily Mail quoted Hardy's character saying in one of the show's episodes.

Recently, "American Horror Story" star Evan Peters has been reported to return as Quicksilver in the new "X-Men" movie. "I think so, yes. I assume it as well, but I don't know what I'm supposed to say and not supposed to say...I haven't seen a script," Peters said in an interview with I Am Rogue. Peters also portrayed Quicksilver in the previous "X-Men: Days of Future Past" movie.

Another actor recently added to the cast list includes Australian Kodi Smit-McPhee as the young Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, as revealed by director Bryan Singer himself.

Other young actors who have earlier been confirmed to join the "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast include "Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. They will be joining a cast which includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, and Rose Byrne.

Screen Rant said the storyline of "X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to be set in the 1980s, following the "traditions" of the previous movies "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" which were set in the 1960s and 1970s, respectively. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters in May next year.
