Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale will no doubt be a major success for the Playstation 3. After all, who does not want to see major mascots duel it out in a massive party atmosphere?

However, unlike Nintendo's diverse list of mascots, Sony's has been developed by a number of different developers over the course of two decades. For those unfamiliar with the characters, Latinos Post will do in-depth analysis of each character, their histories, their move sets, and their Super attacks.

Despite being a later reveal on the character list, it seems timely to talk about Dante after Amazon, Best Buy, and GameSpot announced their pre-order details for the upcoming DmC:Devil May Cry title.

This is not the Dante that has long been known to fans, but a different model of a younger looking guy with dark hair, not the trademark white. His debut title DmC;Devil May Cry features Dante in an parallel universe to the series other storyline. This Dante will be tasked with fending off Mundus, a demon who wants to kill him.

Because he was not an established personality, game director Omar Kendal stated that "the third party characters who represent the biggest challenges are the ones that appear in games that aren't out yet: Dante from the new Devil May Cry, Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, those were characters that were being developed [at the same time as PlayStation All-Stars], and we're constantly pushing on [those studios] to answer questions that maybe they haven't even answered for themselves yet." He added, "It's certainly tough and challenging, because we both want to, on both sides, make sure we represent those characters as faithfully and accurately as possible to meet fan expectations."

Dante's Melee attacks include his sword Rebellion as well as his axe and scythe. These are all controlled on the square button. With the triangle buttons, Dante has his ranged attacks Ebony and Ivory. With a tap of the triangle button Dante will fire away a quick barrage of bullets on the nearest opponent. The move does have a drawback as Dante is left exposed for almost a whole second while he adds a flourish to finish his move. The move can be canceled into combos however and could offer some interesting gameplay possibilities. When the triangles and down button are used in tandem while Dante is in the air, a move called Rain Storm will be unleashed. The player will rain down bullets on characters below.

Pressing the Circle button enables Dante to perform a counter attack that is akin to Marth and Ike's from Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The attack also counters projectiles. He also has a horizontal air dash called son of Sparda.

His level one Super Attack has him step forward and perform three quick slashes. The attack has little range. The level two Super has himdo the trademark Stinger attack that has Dante fire across horizontally to kill anyone in the way. It has no vertical range but the speed makes it highly effective. The final Super-the Devil Trigger-turns him into a one hit killing machine for about 10 seconds. In this Super he takes on the appearance of the other Dante with a red cloak and White hair. This last Super is the most mobile and gives him more range than the previous two. It does however lack the speed of the Stinger attack.

The game is slated for a November 20 release on both the PS 3 and PS Vita. Anyone who purchases the PS3 version will also receive a free download voucher for the Vita Version.
