Who is better? Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? The two greatest living soccer players not only compete in the same league but for rival squads. Messi has had the edge over the last few years as Barcelona has been the supreme squad in European soccer, but Ronaldo may be having the best year of his career. Every week we will look at which player had the better week and which holds the edge to date for the season. Let us look at what the two superstars accomplished during the fourth week of La Liga.

Messi: "La Pulga" continued to put his exemplary work ethic and talent on display in Barcelona's 4-1 win over Getafe. Messi scored the eventual game winner and added a second just four minutes later. The stats keep getting padded and at the rate that Messi is scoring the diminutive forward is on pace for 57 goals. Last season he had 50.

Ronaldo: Not only did Ronaldo continue to get attacked by the media for his "sadness," but he had another dreadful weekend with Real Madrid. Just two weeks after finally breaking through for two goals and a win, Ronaldo was left scoreless despite his best efforts. More importantly, his team lost and now Real Madrid is a full 8 points behind Barcelona for first place.

Stats through Week 4

Messi 6 goals, 1 assist

Ronaldo 2 goals, 0 assists

Edge: Who else? The Argentine is not only scoring big goals, but leading his team to victory. Ronaldo continues to be sad because Messi continues to dominate him week in and week out. Messi 3-1.
