Dead Rising 3 is one of the top Xbox One exclusive titles for the device's launch window, and the game seeks to add open world elements and more detail into the series. Now, Capcom has revealed more about the game's co-op mode, as well as information about its many bosses.

A preview of the game from the Financial Post reveals that main protagonist Nick will be able to team up with truck driver Dick. While Dick is a nonplayable character who will appear frequently in the single player version of the story, players will not be able to control him unless they are in co-op mode. Players can drop into their friend's game and take over Dick, and any progress they make will be saved in their original game. That means if players skip ahead to a new chapter in a friend's game and complete it, then they have the option to skip it once they come to the chapter in their own game. Players using co-op mode are not tethered to each other and can explore independently to an extent, and special co-op vehicles will be also be present.

Another preview of the game from the Financial Post also revealed that the game will have two different types of boss battles. One is mandatory storyline bosses that players must deal with in order to continue the story. The other type of boss battles are "Psycho" boss battles. The game has seven of these bosses, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins found in the Bible. Jason Leigh, a senior producer for the game, explained the origins of the boss characters:

"The story behind the psychos is that they are survivors who have gone crazy in this outbreak, for whatever reason. Their darkest monster is now allowed to come out."

This boss battles are completely optional, and players can choose to take on as many of the characters as they choose. Players could even skip all of them if they do not feel like dealing with the Psychos. Players can find and fight these Psychos in the game's open world, and Capcom stated that the content concerning these characters makes up some of the most disturbing segments in the whole game.
