John Cho, the actor who portrays Sulu, helmsman of the Starship Enterprise, in "Star Trek Into Darkness," J.J. Abram's big-screen sequel to his hugely popular 2009 "Star Trek," will be materializing as a guest star in the Fox drama pilot 'Sleepy Hollow,' based on the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," about a community haunted by a headless horseman

Developed by Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, the same production/writing team for "Into Darkness," 'Sleepy Hollow' is a modern-day supernatural tale that stars British actor Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cho will play Officer Andy Dunn, a police officer in Sleepy Hollow who lends his assistance to another detective and seems quite agreeable --- that is, until it's learned there's more to his character than others realize.

Kurtzman and Orci will pen the pilot and executive produce, while Phil Iscove will also join the team to write and serve as a supervising producer. Heather Kadin will serve as executive producer and Len Wiseman will direct the pilot.

Beyond the Trek universe, Cho, a proud new father who's represented by UTA, has also starred on the big-screen in "Identity Thief," "Total Recall" and the "Harold and Kumar" franchise. He's currently is a series regular on NBC's freshman comedy, "Go On," a Matthew Perry vehicle. That show wraps its first-season run April 11 and is rumored to be headed into a second season.

News of Cho's "Sleepy Hollow" gig comes only a few days after The Hollywood Reporter as well reported Karl Urban - aka Star Trek's Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy - has been given a starring role in Fox's cop drama "Human," from Abrams and J.H. Wyman.

Urban will apparently be taking on the role of John Kennex, a respected police officer who has shut down emotionally after a tragic mission that took the lives of nine of his fellow officers and left him gravely wounded.
