The future of Derrick Rose in the NBA has been uncertain in the past year after suffering from two knee injuries. However, there is hope that the former MVP will be back in action this year, beginning with Team USA.

Bleacher Report writes that Mike Krzyzewski, head coach of Team USA, shared that the All-Star will be joining the training camp during the summer. He said, "We expect him to be there that last week of July when we're choosing the team in Vegas. He can't make the team unless he's ready to go full bore. And knowing Derrick I would think he'll be ready, and hopefully he'll be 100 percent."

During the 2010 FIBA World Championship which was won by the United States, Rose averaged 7.2 points and over 3 assists per game. In the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain, D-Rose has a chance to join the USA team and get his game on for th coming season. According to Tom Thibodeau, coach of the Chicago Bulls, it is an advantage to help Rose prepare for his second return to the NBA via the international competition, writes Pro Basketball Talk.

A pool comprised of 28 players will be eligible for the World Cup, which will commence on August 30 until September 14, 2014. The other players that Rose will possibly be playing with include Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard. Others who are still trying to grab the point guard position aside from Rose include Damian Liliard and Russell Westbrook.

In a report by ESPN, Rose said, "I'm looking forward to getting back on the court this summer and having the chance to represent our country. It's an honor to play for Team USA and Coach K."

Thibodeau said, "I'm hopeful that he will participate and he'll be selected. But a lot depends on where his health is. But I thought it was a great experience for him in the past. I know how much he enjoyed it. I know how USA Basketball feels about him. I think it's a great honor and a privilege, and hopefully it will work out."
