Magic Johnson, the African-American man that Donald Sterling singled out in a scandalous recording, is looking to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers, Bleacher Report writes.

Sterling, current owner of the L.A. Clippers, is under fire after news broke out that he reprimanded his Black-Hispanic girlfriend for publicizing her interactions with African-American people, particularly Magic Johnson. Several NBA players and retired stars protested against Sterling, saying that the NBA has no room for his racism.

Magic Johnson is backed by billionaire partners in the potential endeavor. The Guggenheim group is reportedly interested in acquiring the Los Angeles Lakers for a long time. After the recent incident, Johnson changed his targets to get his point across. According to a report by Yahoo! Sports, the ex-Laker hall of famer is "absolutely interested" in acquiring the Clippers. It is also not the first time that Magic will be owning a sports team. In 2012, Johnson and the Guggenheim group bought the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2.15 billion.

In a Chicago Tribune report, Magic said, "I didn't see it myself but I read the articles." He said he did not hear the conversation firsthand but needed to react for the sake of the NBA, where majority of players are black. He added, "I'm outraged, I'm everything. First, with my name being associated... he called me out, he singled me out personally. Then he singled out African-Americans. Again, I am going to always fight for myself as well as my people. I have been doing that foryears. I will not stop doing that."

Magic further told fans to boycott both Clippers games and the entire league until Sterling gets kicked out. Johnson said that other NBA owners share his sentiments. Although majority of players in the NBA are black, as far as NBA owners are concerned, blacks are still a minority, with Michael Jordan included in that demographic, writes CBS Sports
