On April 3, 2014, the Knicks had a huge victory over the Brooklyn Nets, 110-81. Radio show host Howard Stern left early while the game was still in the third quarter and the Knicks was enjoying a commanding lead.

Former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy was not too pleased with the departure, saying, "I wouldn't give you front row seats again if you leave early." He added, "Nick Lachey is still here, (with Knicks) up 27 points." in a report by Complex Sports.

Stern heard about Van Gundy's comments and called the coach a "midget", "dummy", "loser" and "douche" on his Sirius XM radio show on April 8, 2014.

First of all, Stern said that he had to leave the game early since he starts his radio show at 4 in the morning. He further fired back at the NBA TV analyst, saying that he had nothing much to do with the Knicks organization anymore. Stern also questioned if the former head coach has ever won a championship and does not know the effort required to win.

Stern said that he has been number one many times in his career and reaching the top takes dedication. He cannot sit at a Knicks game all night. He said he has too much to do and sometimes it requires having to leave a Knicks game early, according to the New York Post.

The King of All Media added that Van Gundy does not know what it takes to be number one, which is why no one wants him. He even talked about writing a book about winning and being number one in New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Stern continued to rant that he has experience and a lot to offer in his chosen field, while Van Gundy remains mediocre. He finally called the ESPN analyst a "wannabe", in a Fox Sports report.

Jeff Van Gundy has yet to comment on Stern's criticisms.

Let's hear what Stern said in this audio clip.
