The rivalry between the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets has reached another level, but it may need to take a rest after the NBA named New York as host of the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.

The NBA recently announced that the Knicks and the Nets were selected as co-host of the 2015 All-Star festivities.

Based on the proposed set up, the All-Star Game will take place on Feb. 15, 2015 at the newly-renovated Madison Square Garden, while the Saturday All-Star events such as the 3-point shootout and the highly-anticipated slam dunk competition will be hosted by the Nets at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"New York offers an extraordinary opportunity to host NBA All-Star events at two world-class venues. We look forward to celebrating our game with basketball fans across the entire city, in all five boroughs," NBA commissioner David Stern said as reported by ESPN.

The rivalry between the Knicks and the Nets reached a fever pitch since the Nets franchise moved to Brooklyn last season, which led to verbal wars between the players and officials of both squads.

One of the most publicized trades of barbs was when Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov referred to Knicks owner James Dolan as "that little man" in New York, which reportedly angered Dolan.

But during the press conference in which the hosting rights was announced, Dolan said that the Nets and the Knicks will have a great opportunity to set aside the animosity between each other.

"Rivalries are nothing but good, they're nothing but fun for the fans and they are great for business," Dolan said.

The annual All-Star game will be held in New York for the fifth time in NBA history. New York, which last hosted the event in 1998, will also stage several grassroots events for their fans in the five boroughs of the city.
