Amidst the trade talks and possible moves next season, Indiana Pacers fans can somehow breathe a sigh of relief as All-Star forward Paul George confirmed that he is already talking with the team about a contract extension.

George, who blossomed into an All-Star last season, is said to be considering signing with his hometown team Los Angeles Lakers next season, but the 23-year-old forward doused cold water to that rumor, saying that extension talks are already in progress.

"We're talking now. It's still in the rough draft form. It's a long summer and we're not rushing it. I think we're both on the same page as far as myself and the Pacers. I'm just focusing on getting better and making sure whatever deal that we do come up with, that I'm ready for it," George said in an interview with NBA.com.

According to the report, George, who made his first All-Star appearance last season, will likely receive a five-year extension worth an average of $16 million per year.

With an exciting year ahead of them after an impressive 2012-13 season, George is hoping that everything will be finalized before the new season kicks off.

"It's something that I would love, obviously," George said. "I would love to have something done going into the season just to take my mind off that and really get to practicing and focusing on getting better this summer. It would be ideal if I could get it done going into training camp."

The former Fresno State standout had his breakout year last season. Taking the spot of the oft-injured Danny Granger, George became the first option of the team and he did not disappoint, averaging career-highs 17.4 points to go along with 7.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game last season.

The Pacers have until October 31 to sign George to a contract extension. But even if a deal is not reached, the Pacers will have the biggest offer on the table come free agency next summer.
