The Miami Heat waived veteran small forward Mike Miller via amnesty clause on Tuesday. Miller, who carved out a reputation as one of the most efficient outside snipers in the game, is reportedly gaining interest from several teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Miller finally parted ways with the Heat after helping the franchise reach the finals three consecutive times and win back-to-back championships.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Miller said he understood the decision, but at the same time he expressed his disappointment for not being a part of the dominant franchise in the league anymore.

"I understand the business side of basketball," Miller told The Associated Press (via CBC Sports). "It's a combination of being very, very thankful for the opportunity that I've had, but it hurts that we had a chance to do something very, very special and I'd love to have been a part of it."

Miller, 33, said he will consider all available options, including joining a title contender.

"I know I can be very, very productive for a couple years for sure," Miller added. "But at the same time, it would be very difficult to go into a situation where you're not competing for a title. So I'm going to have to weigh those things, and we'll see how it plays out."

There is speculation that he may re-join his former team the Memphis Grizzlies - a powerhouse in the Western Conference - or a possible reunion with Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who served as his first coach when he was drafted fifth overall by the Orlando Magic in 2000.

"If Mike Miller clears waivers, expect the Los Angeles #Clippers to be interested in his services. Played for Doc Rivers in Orlando," Gary Washbrun of NBA Globe reported on Tuesday.

Miller averaged 4.8 points and 2.7 boards in 17 minutes per game in the regular season, but his contribution was immense in the postseason where he often knocked down big jumpers in tight situations for the Heat.
