LeBron James seems to believe in the old passage: better late than never.

In Game 2 of the NBA Finals, James bricked almost every shot he took through the first three quarters only to come alive in crunch time to rally the Heat to a 103-84 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday at the American Airlines Arena.

LeBron, who's coming off a triple-double game (18 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists) despite shooting 7-for-16 on the floor in Game 1, had another sour shooting night in Game 2 as he shot just 7-for-17 from the field.

However, James' perseverance finally paid off as he had his shots going in the fourth, scoring 9 of his 17 points in the period to power the Heat's late-game barrage. LeBron also tallied 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals in 41 minutes of action to level the series at 1-1 heading to San Antonio.

The Heat also received solid contributions from point guard Mario Chalmers (19 points on 6-for-12 shooting) and center Chris Bosh (12 points and 10 rebounds), while their bench delivered 40 points to offset another miserable performance from Dwyane Wade (10 points on 5-for-13 shooting).

Danny Green (17 points) made all six field goals for the Spurs, including five from the three-point line, to keep his team in a thick of the fight early on.

But the struggles of Tim Duncan (9 points on 3-for-13), Tony Parker (13 points on 5-for-14), Manu Ginobili (5 points on 2-for-6) and Kawhi Leonard (9 points on 4-for-12) were the story of the game. Overall, San Antonio just shot 41 percent from the field and turned the ball over 16 times.

Meanwhile, the Heat made 41 of their 83 shots (49.4 percent) and 10 of their 19 shots from beyond the arc with just six turnovers all night.

The NBA Finals will shift to Game 3 with the series tied at 1-1 for the fourth consecutive year.

The Spurs will host the next three games of the series in accordance to the 2-3-2 format being used in the NBA Finals.
