Two men, both brothers, were allegedly beat up by unidentified men after taking a picture of Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard in Salem, Oregon.

According to the brothers' account, they were suddenly assaulted by men they allege were accompanying Lillard right after one of the brothers took a snap at the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year.

"And his entourage just turned around too and they're like 'Did you just take a picture of Damian Lillard?' And I was like ... 'Yeah, I did.' And so I saw that he was clearly upset, they were upset and I was like, 'Can I apologize to him? Like I'll go up right now and apologize to him,'" the brother told the Portland Police according to KGW.com via SI.com.

Apparently, his apology was not accepted and a scuffle broke out, though the Trail Blazers guard was reportedly not involved in the fight.

"Within minutes, he says the discussion became an all-out fight which did not involve Lillard but did involve others that the brothers believe were part of Lillard's group. When the second brother stepped in to help his brother, he says he was punched and kicked repeatedly, enough to break his nose and require stitches in his lip," added the brother.

The hoop fans reportedly suffered facial injuries but were immediately treated after the commotion in the town's nightlife district early Saturday morning.

The Police are already investigating the incident but informed that it is not clear whether the suspects are associated with the basketball star. Lillard on the other hand is not being considered a suspect in the assault so far.

Lillard bagged the 2013 Rookie of the Year after averaging 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in his first season with the Trail Blazers.

Adidas unveiled a large banner to honor Lillard's accomplishment as NBA's top rookie and is set to launch the player's rookie of the year commemorative shoe soon.
