In a short span of time, the Golden State Warriors grew so quickly from being the new kids on the block to serious contender this postseason.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson may just be the catalysts for this amazing playoff run by the Warriors, but it is the maturity that has made wonders for this young squad.

Tonight, the Warriors have a chance to take a 2-1 series advantage when they battle the San Antonio Spurs on their home turf for Game 3 of the series.

The Warriors, who were never expected to win in a best-of-seven series against the mighty Spurs, is steadily turning things around in their favor.

Golden State is clearly the better team through the first two games of this series, overwhelming the seasoned but ageing Spurs with their quickness and incredible shooting from the outside. The Warriors shot 51 percent on the floor in Game 1 and followed it up with 45.2 percent shooting in Game 2.

The Spurs, who just allowed opponents to score 96.6 points per game in the regular-season, are apparently short of answers in stopping the Warriors' dynamic backcourt tandem of Curry and Thompson, who are averaging a combined 59 points in this series.

But Spurs head coach Greg Popovich is expected to make some adjustments to finally contain the primary source of offense by the Warriors. Moreover, the Spurs will be leaning even more on Tim Duncan, who had some success in Game 2.

Duncan scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 37 minutes in Game 2 while Tony Parker added 20 points and 6 assists in a losing effort.

Another major concern for San Antonio is their alarming field goal shooting percentage. The Spurs just shot 43.8 percent from the field and then went 39.2 percent - including 5-for-21 from the three-point line - the next game.

Like in the first two games, Game 3 will be another high-scoring ball game with both teams looking for their stars to perform at clutch time.
