Michelle Obama Looks Stunning in Narciso Rodriguez Dress at State of the Union Address

United States First Lady Michelle Obama stole the spotlight during the State of the Union address in a Narciso Rodriguez dress.

The first lady is ready to conquer her final year in the White House with style. Michelle Obama chose a marigold Narciso Rodriguez dress during President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address. According to a report from Fox News Latino, the simple but striking dress worth $2,096 in Neiman Marcus sold out online at $628 before the end of the night.

Michelle famously wore a Narciso Rodriguez creation when her husband was appointed as president. She also chose the same designer when she attended Obama's 2009 State of the Union. Other designers like Michael Kors, Jason Wu, Rachel Roy, Azzedine Alaia, Isaac Mizrahi and Barbara Tfank also had the privilege to dress the first lady.

Michelle, who is famous for her stylish fashion choices, spoke about the multi-billion industry and why it's more than just clothes that people wear.

"Fashion is really about passion and creativity. Just like music or dance or poetry, it's what drives you," she said. "It's what gets you out of bed each morning - she added - it's what you write about in essays in school and what you read about in the news. It occupies every ounce of your daily lives. I know this because with creative people, that's what their passion does - it makes everything else worthwhile."

According to Entertainment Online, Michelle also spoke to fashion workshop students who paid her a visit in the White House in 2014. There, she explained why she thinks the fashion industry is so much more than what people perceive it to be.

She emphasized on the many aspects of fashion, whether manufacturing, marketing or even agriculture. She also pointed out how the industry is a vital contributor to the economy. However, in the end, she said that fashion is about passion and creativity. It is so much more than a beautiful pair of shoes or dress, but for many people, it is either a career or a way to provide for their families.

"Fashion is about so much more than just a pretty pair of pumps or the perfect hemline. For so many people across the country, it is a calling, it is a career, and it's a way they feed their families," Michelle explained. "So, that's why we thought it was important to bring the industry to the White House, and to share it with all of you who are coming up in the next generation."
